Tiny Township is a small yet growing rural district in Ontario located in its Southwestern corner on the shores of Georgian Bay.
It’s a great place to raise a family or retire and a short distance to work opportunities and amenities in Wasaga Beach, Elmvale, Barrie, Midland and Penetanguishene. Its serene lakeside setting, and beautiful scenery of the Niagara Escarpment makes it a perfect place to live or visit.
The picturesque Township of Tiny includes the following communities/hamlets:
- Lafontaine
- Perkinsfield
- Toanche
- Wyevale
- Wyebridge
It is the most northerly Township of the County of Simcoe and occupies most of the Penetanguishene peninsula.
The township was founded in the 1800s and inhabited by First Nations, French settlers followed by those from England and Scotland. It has a rich history as a farming and agricultural community and in the past, many made a living from mining timber and trading with Native Americans for furs and hides.
Tiny boasts 70km of shoreline, a 23-kilometre recreation trail, and is home to the Tiny Marsh Provincial Wildlife Areas, Ontario’s first provincially owned and managed wetland. Residents and visitors can also explore Awenda Provincial Park for camping, hiking, and cross-country skiing. In 2009, the township became the third blue community following Burnaby and Victoria in British Columbia.
